Albany - It didn't take long for supporters to know an end to Lawrence Roberts' tenure in the House of Representatives was here. By about 8:00PM, his opponent Freddie Powell Sims was declared the winner.

"I'm relieved, relieved. 12 years is a long time. I congratulate Ms. Powell and hope she enjoys as many years in the General Assembly as I did."

12 years, six terms at the state capital ended with a huge defeat. Roberts now hopes his legacy will be his vote for a historic change for Georgia. "I hope people will remember me as voting to change the state flag," said Roberts.

There will be no party for Roberts' supporters, as he finishes his long walk as District 151's representative at the Gold Dome.
