Lee County-- In Lee County, a new county commissioner will represent the Redbone District. Wally Roberts got 459 votes. Incumbent Jackie McCorkle got 306.

Roberts celebrated as the final results were posted at the poll. The retired Georgia State Patrol post commander thanked his supporters after a tiring campaign. Roberts said "I feel great. I worked hard. I had some people working for me worked hard.So I feel great."

At his home, Jackie McCorkle was all smiles despite his loss. After 8 years as Commissioner, McCorkle said he would spend more time with his family and friends.

McCorkle said "I'm having a victory celebration here. It's for my retirement from public service here in Redbone. But I'm still going to be here. I'll still be working for the people."

There is no Democratic Opposition in the Lee County Redbone Commission Race, so Wally Roberts will take office after November's election.
