Albany commissioners evaluate City Manager

August 10, 2004

Albany - City commissioners gave the City Manager a mediocre evaluation, but they stopped short of saying she'll lose her job at the end of the year. Each city commissioner ranked Janice Allen Jackson's performance from poor to excellent in a variety of areas from her supervisory skills to her willingnesses to work with commissioners. The average score was about three which is satisfactory.

"I did not come in expecting anything," said Jackson. "I would like to ask some of the commissioners about the scores they gave me, and most have said we can get together and talk about it."

In April, commissioners renewed Jackson's contract but only until the end of the year. They made no decision about Jackson's job Tuesday.
