Valdosta - Chris Hatcher watched his Blazers go through their first practice of the season in full pads and afterwards said that he still has not made a final decision at quarterback.
Last week, Hatcher said that senior quarterback Fabian Walker, who transferred from Florida State, would more than likely be the starter with last year's starter Barrett Wilkes red-shirting so that he would not lose a year of eligibility.
On the first day of pds, Walker continued to work with the first team offense and Mitch Stewart, senior Sean Calhoun and Barrett Wilkes saw action with the second team.
Hatcher says is hoping Stewart or Calhoun can earn the backup role behind Walker so that the Blazers can redshirt Wilkes.
However, Hatcher says that Wilkes is not out of the picture for this season.
Chris Hatcher said "Hopefully that plan will work but one thing I'll tell you 'ol Barrett has really looked good these past couple of days so we are really going to let it play out a little longer before we really just solidify what we are going to do."
Fabian Walker said "I know the expecations. Everybody is expecting this team to do well because they have in the past. I just want to come in and help out as much as possible."
Valdosta State will hold their first two a day session tomorrow and their first game is not until September 4th at Albany State.
