City council says yes to new alcohol amendments

August 9, 2004

Moultrie - While Tift and Tifton are making decisions on liquor by the drink sales, another city voted to ease advertising restrictions on package stores.

The Moultrie City Council made it legal to promote package store names in bigger letters.

The amendment also lets stores advertise alcoholic products on the outside.

Package store owners say the new rules will allow them to compete with convenience stores.

Another change, Moultrie package store owners can live in the county, before, they had to live within Moultrie city limits.
