Valdosta - A new school year brings positive changes for one South Georgia college.

In his fall convocation speech Monday, Valdosta State University President Ronald Zaccari said the college is moving forward despite budget cuts by the Board of Regents.

Capital projects such as a new residence hall opening in January will add 500 new beds and help accommodate the college's growing enrollment. "We're spending wisely, we're saving and planning wisely, and moving forward for the faculty, staff, and students of VSU," said Zaccari.

VSU classes start Monday. Enrollment for fall semester is expected to top last year's total of 10 thousand 500 students.
