Moultrie-- Nearly 230 of the country's top junior divers from 28 different states will be in Moultrie this week for the 2004 Junior National Diving Championships at the Moose Moss Aquatic Center.
Eight of those divers are members of the Moss Farms Diving Tigers and will have the advantage of diving at their home facility. Carly Moore, Ann Perry Blank, Maddie Qurnell, Nic Price, Ryan Helms, Owen Blank, Anna Aguero and Hannah Moore all qualified for the national meet a few weeks ago at the East Zones in Buffalo, New York.
Moultrie and Moss Farms are no strangers to national championships, having hosted the same event in 1995. And if there is such thing as a home pool advantage in diving, the Diving Tigers plan on using it this week against the nation's best.
"I really think there is because some times the boards at other places are different and we're really used to them because we dive on them everyday," Anna Aguero said.
"It's real great to have Nationals in a small town like Moultrie and diving on your own boards where you've learned all your dives, it's great," Maddie Qurnell added.
The Junior National Diving Championships run Monday through Saturday at Moultrie's Moose Moss Aquatic Center.
