Thomas County - An investigation found that workers did not always follow protocol. When putting an animal to sleep, workers need to use exact dosages, have two witnesses present and use the same room every time.

Mark Todd, President of the Humane Society Board of Directors says, "All of these procedures are supposed to be followed and if they're not followed exactly, then there's always the chance that the animal might suffer more than is necessary."

As a result of their findings, the board fired the Kennel manager and another kennel worker. The board also had a Veterinarian come to the shelter and retrain the staff of proper euthanasia procedures.
