Albany - The time for celebrating the 2003 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football title ended this afternoon for the Albany State football team when head coach Mike White held the first team meeting of the 2004 season.
More than 80 players reported Tuesday afternoon for the start of fall practice.
After introducing themselves to their new teammates, the players will get physicals, equipment and all the other necessary matters resolved before the first practice Thursday.
With 15 players making the preseason all conference squad it is no secret why Albany State has been picked to repeat as SIAC champs.
The Rams would love to start another streak of conference football championships and return to the division two playoffs.
Mike White said "We do talk about things like that on your first day but I think everybody is wanting to improve on last year and that is our goal."
Albany State opens the season on August 28th against Miles College in the new Albany Municipal Coliseum.
