Motorist 'gets a charge' from utility line

August 3, 2004

Albany-- An driver got a shock today - literally-- when a power line fell onto her car on North Slappey Boulevard.

A tree limb fell onto the power line sending it falling on the busy street and her Mustang. The high voltage line burnt her hood-- luckily she wasn't hurt.

Greg McNeil saw the line fall and pulled his truck into the middle of the road to stop other cars from driving over the line. "People were still driving over the high voltage cable. I just wanted to block traffic, so nobody would get hurt."

Georgia Power crews repaired the line, and traffic was diverted for about on hour.
