DA seeks death penalty in murder case

July 30, 2004

Tift County -- Prosecutors will seek the death penalty for a man suspected of murdering an elderly Tifton woman. Investigators believe Holsenbeck beat Hancock, stole her car, then dumped her body in a wooded area.

33-year-old Waylon Holsenbeck remains in jail tonight, charged with the June murder of 76-year old Mary Hancock. Paul Bowden is also asking a judge to issue a gag order in the case. Holsenbeck is set to enter a plea in the fall.
