Albany - Students across south Georgia are about to head back to school and that means drivers need to slow down in school zones. The speed limit in school zones is 25 miles per hour between 7:30AM - 8:30AM and 3:30PM - 4:30PM. Fines are doubled if you're caught speeding in those zones.

Albany police are also urging parents to remind their children about pedestrian safety. "We want parents to remind their kids to use the cross walks and obey the school crossing guards. If they ride the bus, make sure they are on their best behavior," said Lt. Kenn Singleton, APD.

Dougherty County students go back to school on August 6th.
