Arena football coming to Albany

July 27, 2003

Albany- City commissioners have signed off on an agreement between Albany and the company that is bringing an arena football team to town.

No one knows what the team will be called, but a team may be playing at the Albany Civic Center by April. The company Celebrity Services will either buy a team to bring here or create a new one.

Other professional sports teams in Albany haven't been successful. But company president Mike Storen says it will be different with arena football.

"And since we only play 8 home games opposed to 20 or 30 in basketball or hockey or 40 or 50 in baseball, the pricing for season tickets will be much lower," Storen said.

Mike Storen says tickets will range from ten dollars to 30 dollars. The seasons run April through August.
