Fitzgerald- The Ben Hill county commission approved an ordinance tacking on a $1 fee for cell phone users.

The money will help pay for new technology that will enable emergency responders to locate callers when emergency calls are made.

"Right now we can only locate to a tower. That just tells us kind of a general area of where the call is coming from, so in case someone couldn't talk or whatever this will allow us to pinpoint where that person is," explains County Manager, David McCranie.

County officials say the new fee should show up on bills within the next 90 days.
