Head Start under new management

July 22, 2004

Albany- Head Start is now officially under new management and the new leaders say they won't be ready to take in children by August 6th.

The federal government hired the Community Development Institute to operate Head Start programs temporarily.

CDI took over this week.

Site manager Jerome Lee and his staff are re-working the $5 million budget and reorganizing parts of the program. They expect to send letters to Head Start Employees by mid-August to let them know when to report to work.

The federal government has been looking into accounting problems at Head Start of Albany since May.

The local Head Start board relinquished their rights to the program last week and the executive director resigned.
