Albany- The Democratic Primary for State House District 151 ends with a runoff. Twelve year incumbent Lawrence Roberts finished in front with 3,019 and 46.2% of the votes.

Freddie Powell Sims finished just behind him with 2,895 and 44.3% of the votes.

Manswell Peterson got just under 10% with 628 votes.

Roberts spent the night at the Albany Government Center closely watching the returns as they were posted, and hoping the tight race would end with his victory.

"I've been in a runoff before and hopefully I won't have to have a runoff this time, but we just have to see," says Roberts.

Retired teacher Freddie Powell Sims waited out the results with dozens of family members, friends, and supporters. She was reluctant to declare a victory.

"You know I'm a bottom lines person. I want to see the bottom line. I want to see that final count. That's it. Over and done with. That's what I'm looking for," she says.

Powell Sims says she is poised and ready for the runoff.
