Albany - 2003 Challenge Cup champion Stonebridge Country Club found themselves in an unusual position after Saturday's first round, in second place.
Stonebridge put on a Sunday charge with a score 763 to win their fifth Challenge Cup title by ten shots over tournament host Grand Island.
Brent Dorner, who plays at Troy State, led Stonebridge's attack with a 68 on Sunday.
Grand Island shot a 767 in the the second round to beat out first round leader River Pointe for second place by one shot.
Grand Island finished at 1546 and River Pointe was 1547.
Doublegate posted a 779 on Sunday to lock up fourth place with Radium and Flint River finishing fifth and six.
The Challenge Cup tournament features 15 players from each of the area's six clubs.
Each team has one club pro, two players with a handicap of 0-2, three players each with handicaps of 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and three players with handicaps higher than nine.
After the round, the score of the club pro along with the best score from the player with a handicap in the range of 0-2 is counted along with two of three scores from the other four handicap divisions.
Those ten scores are added to get the club's total score for the round.
