Albany- River Pointe Golf Club has a slim lead over defending champion Stonebridge after day one of the seventh annual Challenge Cup golf tournament that is hosted this year by Grand Island Country Club.
The tournament features teams from each of the areas six country clubs with each team consisting of a pro and players of various handicap ratings.
Under the point scoring system, RiverPointe posted a score 771 and has a two point lead over Stonebridge Country Club.
Host Grand Island is at 779 and Doublegate is at 805.
Flint River, playing in their first Challenge Cup, is in fifth place at 844 points and Radium Country Club is in sixth place at 852 points.
The second and final round begins with a shotgun start Sunday at 1pm at the Grand Island Country Club.
