Christo takes on new role

July 8, 2004 Albany--Darton College announcing Thursday that Andy Christo will be the new Associate Athletic Director for Development and Public Relations.

Christo, who has been involved with Darton for several years, will now work with the college on an official capacity. His role will be to work with the new athletic director, who is expected to be named by the end of the month, on developing and directing an ongoing fundraising program.

Christo's first matter of business in his new job was to present district attorney Ken Hodges, the chairman of the Darton College foundation, with a 100-thousand dollar check.

Christo says the money, which came from an anonymous donor, will be used as an endowment towards athletic scholarships.

"It should last forever and as we get more and more money donated to the endowment then naturally its going to increase the income and money that might have been used on scholarships can go somewhere else," Christo said.

Darton College also learning recently that both the softball and baseball fields will receive lights at their respective stadiums within the next few months.
