Albany- Dozens of Georgians shopped at this Columbia, Alabama fireworks store last week even though they remain illegal in Georgia.

So far there have been no arrests or emergencies in Albany or Dougherty County relating to illegal use of fireworks.

"Thus far during the holiday season weekend we had no fire incidents related to fireworks and we hope that the citizens of Albany and the surrounding areas would remain safe during the holiday season," says Captain Gary Ball of the Albany Fire Department.

The personal sale and use of any type of fireworks are illegal statewide and punishable by a maximum fine of up to $1,000 and jail sentence of up to a year.
