Middle East - While in Kuwait, soldiers from the 1148th Transportation Company spent July 4th with a steak dinner, watermelon contests, and games.

The Thomasville National Guard Unit spent another Independence Day away from family. They have been gone since April 2003.

During last year's July 4th celebration in Iraq, units competed against each other in flag football despite windy and sandy conditions. They also had a talent show.

The 1148th Transportation Company is expected to complete its mission on July 14th and home by the end of July.
