Albany- Several donors stopped by to give blood at the Albany donation center Saturday, but officials still say there is only about a 12-hour supply of type-O blood on Red Cross shelves statewide.
On average the Albany donor center collects only about 15 donations a day.
"Our donations have been down anyway. We went into this holiday period already low because of illness, vacations, it's just summer time unfortunately, but emergencies and surgeries don't know that," says Patsy McMath of the Red Cross.
McMath says if the 67,000 eligible donors in Albany gave at least twice a year, the Red Cross would never have a shortage.
