Albany - Stopping useless federal spending tops U.S. Senate Candidate Johnny Isakson's to-do list. Isakson stopped at Walker's Barbecue in Albany on his "Stop the Pork" Tour.

The Republican says he wants to cut wasteful spending by asking groups seeking federal money to cut 5% from their budgets and appropriating money for state projects every two years instead of annually.

"One of the problems we have in America with deficit spending is spending money on projects that by anybody's definition are unnecessary projects," said Isakson. "So this is about changing our budget process and putting in spending priorities."

Isakson is one of three Republicans running for Zell Miller's U.S. Senate seat. The other candidates are Mac Collins and Hermain Cain.
