Symphony celebrates 40 years

June 29, 2004

Albany- In light of the on-going downtown development, the Albany Symphony Orchestra has organized a special Downtown Pops Series for it's upcoming 40th Anniversary.

They will hold their 13th annual Peppermint Pops holiday sing-a-long as well as two separate Pops in the Park concerts at the Veterans Park Amphitheater.

"In the past of course we've done Peppermint Pops, we've done Pops in the Park, been a wonderful response from the community. So, for our 40th Anniversary we thought we'd give the community a present and an opportunity to have a series of events," says Music Director Claire Fox Hillard.

One Pops in the Park will feature a tribute to Ray Charles by merging symphonic and blues music, and the other will merge symphonic and country music.
