Albany- Outside an Albany home, a purple ribbon hangs as a sad silent reminder of a life cut short.

Inside, Pearlie Johnson has been comforted by friends and family since her husband Horace died Sunday morning.

"Two of the brothers came over to my home and let me know that there had been an accident," Johnson said. "I didn't really know what had happened."

What happened was a tragedy. Horace  Johnson was walking down Thomas Drive in Panama City around 4:30 a.m. local time when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

The impact threw him 50 feet. He died later at a hospital. His friend Joe Scott was hit too, but wasn't badly hurt.

Now, Pearlie is dealing with the loss of her companion of 39-years.

"My husband was a good, good man. Everybody loved him. The people that he worked with on the job, in the congregation. I loved him."

A security guard heard the crash from her post at Nautical Watch condominiums. But she didn't see the car or driver who sped away. Neither did the victims.

Ms. Johnson reached out to the Panhandle city for help.

"Well, I want anyone with any information to come forward. Any information that they might have concerning this. And there will be a reward."

"He was a good person. And I'm going to miss him. I want some information about who did this to him."

Information that could catch a killer and bring a grieving family a small measure of comfort and peace.
