Nashville - The death of a Nashville inmate has been ruled a suicide.
Dexter Darrell Brown of Tifton was found at 6:30 AM on February 20 hanging in his cell at the Nashville city jail. He had been charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
Since Brown died in custody, Georgia law requires the GBI to investigate the death and Berrien County Corner Bob Lovein to hold an inquest.
Six jurors heard testimony from the officers who found Brown, from GBI agents and from Crime Lab officials. Their verdict is that Browns death was suicide.
Evidence showed the only physical marks on the body were ligature marks around his neck.
