Albany-- Cuts in Medicaid are forcing many families to find alternative care for loved ones in nursing homes, but those families may get some temporary relief.
Governor Sonny Perdue is recommending that the Department of Community Health continue to pay nursing home bills for the people affected for 90 days. The coverage is supposed to end on June 30th, potentially leaving more than a thousand Georgia nursing home residents with no place to go.
The extension would give families more time to set up Miller Trusts. The trusts give families another way to make sure the nursing home bills get paid.
