Local players faring well in big tournaments

Undated- Moultrie's Harris English birdied the second playoff hole to win the 13-14 division of the Soutehrn Junior Golf Championship over at the Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island.

English started the third and final round with a three shot lead.

Hunter Harrick of Montgomery, Alabama shot an even par 70 to force a sudden death playoff.

Michael Smith of Lafayette, Louisiana won the 15-18 age division by four shots with a two-under par score of 208.

On the pro tours, Sylvester's Sonny Skinner is six-under par through 13 holes in the rain delayed Northeast Pennsylvania Open on the Nationwide Tour.

Skinner and the rest of the field will resume their first round on Friday morning in Moosic, Pennsylvania.

Skinner's former roomate on the Nationwide Tour Josh Broadaway of Albany has gotten off to a good start the Hooters Tour stop at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Broadaway is in a three way tie for second place and one shot behind first round leader Camilo Benedetti who posted an eight-under 64 on Thursday.
