Albany -- Studies have shown that men don't take their health and the early warning signs of illness as seriously as women do.

Saturday  officials at the Health Department tried to help change those statistics with their "Boys to Men" program.

The one day program geared toward young boys educated them about health issues and sexually transmitted diseases that affect men.

"Being a young man and growing up and becoming an adult, there are a lot of things people don't tell you, so we are trying to educate these young men," says event speaker Roderick Smith, a DJ for Blazin 102.

This is the first year of the program. Health officials say educating these kids now will go a long way in ensuring they are healthy in the future.
