Deputies bust teen gun theft ring

June 10, 2004

Worth County -- Six teenagers are arrested and a Worth County gun theft ring is broken up.

Worth County Sheriff Freddie Tompkins said 18-year-olds Zachery Frasier, Karen Palmer, and Zachery Lovett, 19-year-old Timothy Anderson, 17-year-old Horatio Williams and a 16-year-old female worked together to steal more than 23 rifles, two pistols and other property.

Police had long suspected one of the teens in a gun theft case, and his arrest lead to the others. "In the past we have had other burglaries were the thieves got six guns but this is the biggest gun theft we have had since I have been Sheriff," says Tompkins

The sheriff said the suspects didn't say why they stole the guns. Since the property was valued at more than $5,000, each teen could face up to 20 years in prison.
