Albany - A manhunt was on in Tift County for a man who stabbed a co-worker Tuesday morning and fled. A Georgia State Patrol helicopter circled over fields near the small town of El Dorado Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies bloodhounds followed the scent of the suspect , described as a Hispanic man in his late twenties or early thirties.
Deputies said he stabbed a co-worker at MacGregor Pallet Company around 7:30AM and fled in a Chevrolet Blazer. The SUV was found just a few miles away from the company. Deputies started the ground and air search after someone spotted the suspect running near Nashville Highway.
"These search crews are not going to give up. They'll be here until dark, and start again tomorrow morning if necessary. They won't give up," David Haire, Public Information Officer for Tift County Sheriff's Department.
Berrien, Lowndes, Tift, and GSP crews were still searching for the suspect early Tuesday evening. Authorities are telling people who live in the search area to stay indoors and lock their doors.
The suspect was last scene wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He's considered armed and dangerous. You should call 911 immediately if you see him.
The victim, who's name has not been release, underwent surgery for multiple stab wounds Tuesday morning.
