Colquitt County - A man admits to shooting and killing his girlfriend over the weekend.

Forty-six-year-old Martha Fritts was shot in the head with a shotgun around midnight Friday night. She was found dead in her bedroom on Doerun-Norman Park Road.

Forty-seven-year-old Robert William Lewis, who lived with Fritts, was arrested and charged with murder. Colquitt County Sheriff Investigator Captain Hal Suber says, "He made the call to 911 and also his mother made the call to 911 saying he shot her."

Lewis claims he shot her, because she came after him with a knife.

Fritts has been in and out of the Colquitt County jail seven times. Her most recent arrest was in March for disorderly conduct.
