Albany -- Cancer outbreaks are more common in Southwest Georgia than any other part of the state. And Saturday people who have survived the deadly disease came together to celebrate life.

More than 100 Cancer survivors gathered at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany for the annual Celebration for Life.

The event sponsored by Phoebe Putney is a way for cancer survivors to meet, share their stories and lend support.

The event also is way for survivors to find out about new treatments being used to fight cancer. The event was the 12th year of the Celebration of life.
