Housing Authority honors late director

June 4, 2004

Albany- Albany Housing Authority staff members, along with family, friends and several elected officials, helped dedicate a 48-unit low income public housing neighborhood to the memory of Roy Lane.

Lane served as the director of the Albany Housing Authority for eight years, before serving as the Albany City Manager and then City Manger of Spartanburg, South Carolina . He died in June of 2001.

The Lane Landings subdivision was financed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development with assistance from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

It is the second of four developments that will replace the 140 units of Washington Homes that were destroyed in the flood of 1994.
