Leesburg- The high school baseball season may be over for Lee County's Buster Posey but he will be busy on the diamond this summer.
The Lee County junior, who will play in the AFLAC all-American game in August, is one of 20 players in the state selected to play for junior team Georgia next week in Oklahoma.
The all-star tournament will have the top rising seniors from eight states and Canada.
Lee County coach Rob Williams will be an assistant on the junior team staff and Trojan pitcher Jason Weaver, who played for the junior team last year, has been selected for the senior team this year along with Colquitt County's Will Southwell.
Jason Weaver, who will play for Columbus State next year, was 7-0with an 0.83 earned run average.
Buster Posey was the region 1-AAAAA player of the year after he had .544 batting average his junior season with seven homeruns, 47 runs batted in and a school record 56 hits.
On the mound, Posey was 10-1 with 1.53 earned run average.
Posey is also the first Lee County pitcher in to strike out more than 100 batters in season since Chad Coffee in 2000.
Posey and Weaver were also selected for the all region team along with outfielder Jack Stripling, catcher Justin Hall and pitcher Gray Jones.
Rob Williams was named region 1-AAAAA coach of the year after leading the Trojans to a 28-5 record including an unbeaten mark in region play.
