Albany-- A Dougherty grand jury has indicted 80 people for stealing the identities of dead people.
Secret Service and GBI agents arrested the suspects in an early morning raid January 6th. The suspected ringleader of the scam, Kwezeta Butler, was not indicted today but likely will face federal charges.
Investigators say she searched obituaries, gathered personal information of the deceased, then sold it to people with bad credit so they could get car loans. More indictments could come in other counties.
Those indicted today are charged with first degree forgery and identity theft.
