Mayor missing money prompts Police polygraphs

May 26, 2004

Albany -- Albany Police Chief Bobby Johnson and several of his officers may take polygraph tests over some missing money.

The money was lost by Mayor Willie Adams while he was attending a police function. Mayor Adams lost an envelope containing five thousand dollars cash May 8th at the Day with a Cop event at Tift Park.

When he reported it was missing, police officers attending the event helped him look for it. It wasn't found.

Now, sources tell us, that the officers at the event are being offered voluntary polygraph tests.

Mayor Adams confirms he lost some money, but he won't talk about it. The money was his personal cash. Albany Police will not talk about it.
