Albany -- Albany kids can now enjoy free meals and activities through the Summer Lunch Bag Program.

25 youngsters were served a lunch of corn dogs, potato salad, fruit cup, and milk Wednesday afternoon at Grove Park. This is one of 53 sites where the Albany Recreation Department is serving the Summer Lunches. And it's more than just a meal for the youngsters.

Lunch supervisor Arrie Newberry said "We play. We have arts and crafts. Other games like football and basketball, to keep them involved all year round."

Many of these kids might not get lunch or have supervision if not for the Summer Lunch Program. They go from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon Monday through Friday at parks, playgrounds, and Recreation centers around Dougherty County.
