Albany-- Lunch hour traffic hit a snag after two crashes on busy Slappey Bouvelard.

Just before one o'clock, an SUV was hit from behind by a pick-up truck at the corner of North Slappey and Dawson Road.

A block south, at North Slappey and Gillionville Road, police were working a second wreck at the same time, this one more serious. The driver of this Dodge Neon ran a red light, and slammed into a Chevy Tahoe attempting to turn left onto Slappey.

The driver of the Neon was not wearing a seat belt, and two children inside the vehicle were also not properly restrained.

"Like the state has been preaching, click it or ticket," said Albany Police Corporal William Dowdell. "It takes less than a second, it could save your life, it could save someone else's life."

No one was seriously hurt. The driver is facing several charges, including seat belt violations.
