South Georgia deputy charged

Americus-- A former Sumter County deputy is charged with shoplifting.

Barry Price was fired Friday afternoon from the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.

Price was at first suspended Tuesday when accusations arose that he stole some cigarettes from an Americus convenience store.

Price turned himself into authorities Friday afternoon after warrants were issued for his arrest.

He is charged with two counts misdemeanor shoplifting.
