Students fail at helping principal

May 22, 2004

Fitzgerald -- A South Georgia high school principal, under a school system investigation, is barred from a graduation ceremony. Last week, more than 130 Fitzgerald High school seniors signed a petition asking the school board to reconsider a decision not to allow David Mims to attend graduation.

Mims is the focus of internal investigation.  School officials found two of his degrees came from a non accredited online line school.

The NAACP is also accusing him of mistreating black students. Board members told students allowing Mims to attend graduation would disrupt the ceremony.
