Armed robber shot

May 21, 2004

Albany -- When four masked gunmen burst into an Albany restaurant last night and started beating one of his employees, the manager shot one of them. Now all four are under arrest.

After the Maryland Fried Chicken on East Oglethorpe closed Thursday night, the four men rushed in through the back door.

Employee Patrick Holbert was hit in the head with a gun. Manager Carter Miller  got his gun. Lt. Kenn Singleton said "This is when he fired one shot. Striking one of the individuals."

The four robbers ran from the store. 19-year-old Courtney Redding was arrested at Phoebe Putney Hospital when he showed up at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transferred to the jail Friday  morning.

20-year-old Kelvin Daniels and two male juveniles, a 15- and a 16-year-old, were arrested for the armed robbery. Investigators say there may be other arrests in this robbery.

The store manager has not been charged.
