Valdosta - Governor Sonny Perdue is endorsing a South Georgia man for the state senate.

The governor was in Valdosta Thursday night to support Rusty Griffin, a Republican candidate for District 8 Senator. He says Georgia needs more trustworthy and community oriented leaders like Griffin. "He'll make quite an advocate and a great spokesman for South Georgia, he also brings into citizen legislature the wisdom having run a large business, and the integrity and judgement we need in the General Assembly," said Perdue.

I'm honored and flattered to have the Governor of Georgia come down, Sonny Perdue is a great governor and to have him endorse my candidacy is a real honor," said Griffin.

Griffin was owner and C.E.O of the Griffin Company in Valdosta until selling the business last year.

He is being opposed by Democrat incumbent Senator Tim Golden.
