New teacher contracts on the way

May 13, 2004

Worth County -- The Worth County School Board plans to vote Thursday night on the details of new teacher contracts.

The board usually has contracts ready before May but have delayed the vote to decide how to award teacher pay raises.

"We have to decide how the raises will be distribute in which part of the year," says Gary Russell, Superintendent for Worth County school board.

State budget cuts have forced Worth schools to reduce the workforce. $300,000 must still be cut, but the board doesn't anticipate eliminating more jobs.
