Macon- Whatever Deerfield-Windsor soccer coach Andy Marsh said to his Lady Knights at halftime has Deerfield-Windsor playing in the first ever GISA AAA final.
Down 1-0 at intermission to Augusta Prep, the Lady Knights went on a goal scoring rampage to beat the Cavaliers 5-2 in the GISA AAA state semifinals.
Sophomore Katie Fletchall started the scoring in the opening minutes of the second half when her long shot went through the hands of the Augusta Prep goalkeeper and into the net to the match 1-1.
The Lady Knights took the lead moments later when Callie Hughey scored her 29th goal of the season.
Laura Tiernan's 21st goal of the season increased the Deerfield-Windsor lead to two goals.
Both Hughey and Tiernan each added one more goal as the Lady Knights improve to 15-3-1 on the season.
Deerfield-Windsor, ranked second most of the season, will play number one Stratford Saturday night at 7:30 at Mount de Sales soccer complex for the GISA AAA state title.
