Albany -- The Albany Police officer charged with stealing a wreck victim's wallet was arrested Thursday.
32-year-old James Thomas surrendered at the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office. He was fingerprinted and had this mug shot taken, then released on one thousand dollars bond.
Now that he has been arrested, Officer Thomas is suspended without pay from the police department. He had been suspended with pay since April 9th.
Thomas is charged with theft by taking. Investigators say he stole several thousand dollars from James Burgess' wallet after Burgess crashed his motorcycle into a car. Burgess is still hospitalized.
