Thomasville - One of the most enjoyable treats of our anniversary tour has been scouting out South Georgia's best restaurants. This week, we take you to Thomasville's Market Diner, where locals and visitors alike enjoy good ole' home cookin'.
With fried chicken and home grown vegetables piled high, the Market Diner is truly a diner's delight.
Jan Corchran of St. Augustine, Florida is visiting her daughter in Thomasville. "We stopped here the other night for dinner and we're back already," says Corchran.
She's not the only one back already. The Yorks regularly drive down from Moultrie to eat at Market Diner.
"The owners are real nice people and the food is, too," says Lucilla York.
Food that you just won't find up north. Just ask Dennis Adams of York, Pennsylvania. "Very good. Good variety. Food here that I'm not used to finding at home. So it's good, too," says Adams.
It's good because it's so fresh. You see, the Market Diner gets much of its food from the Farmer's Market right next door.
"I love home cooking and we don't have any of that in my hometown. I couldn't wait to come back," says Corchran.
"I'm sure I'll come back," adds Adams.
And so will others who've gotten a taste of Thomasville's Market Diner."
Georgia Trend Magazine named the Market Diner the Best of the Best in Southern Cooking in 2000, a distinction well deserved.
