Albany -- An Albany bank robber used the stolen money to buy a used car after the heist. Investigators have traced Friday's bank robber to a used car lot on West Oglethorpe.
Meanwhile, they are examining evidence from the car he used to flee the bank robbery.
Carolyn McDonald of McDonald's Used Cars said the man was acting nervous when he came into her dealership early Friday afternoon. He paid less than two thousand dollars in cash for a 1992 Buick Regal, and drove off. It was money stolen that morning from the First State Bank of Albany.
The car the bank robber drove away after Friday morning's robbery has been found. The Chevrolet Lumina was found in the 29-hundred block of Lindsey Road in Dougherty County Saturday. Lt. Kenn Singleton of the Albany Police Department said "We did get a call about 3 o-clock PM in reference to the car used in the armed robbery Friday. A citizen called it in, spotted it as an abandoned vehicle."
Investigators say they believe the bank robber is still in the Georgia or Florida area.
He did give a name when buying the used car, but police do not want to release it.
