Albany- For months people all over the country have been working to raise money to spend an entire night walking.

Albany's Relay for Life kicked off Thursday night with the survivors dinner at Porterfield Methodist Church.

The relay raises money for cancer research, but also recognizes people who are winning the war against the disease.

"If we don't get out, and sometimes it's painful, it we don't get out and tell our story then why should there be a relay, why should doctors worry about patients," said Bill Bonds, a cancer survivor who spoke at the dinner.

Relay for Life begins tomorrow night at Darton College. Opening ceremonies will be at 7 p.m..
