Albany- The SherwoodChristian girls soccer team will have a new field to play on next year.
The Sherwood Baptist Church broke ground Tuesday on a new 40 acre athletic complex that will have baseball/softball fields, youth soccer fields, tennis courts and a swimming pool.
The first phase of the project is the construction of a soccer/football practice field that will be ready by the beginning of the next school year.
Sherwood Baptist Church executive pastoer Jim McBride said "But the primary focus is for our community to have a family friendly Christian-based recreation program that will be available to everyone in the community."
Sherwood Christian hopes the entire complex will be built in five years.
